OUR MINISTRIES

Prayer

At Wrightwood Community United Methodist Church we take seriously the call to be a "house of prayer". We have many opportunities including Intercessory Prayer meetings on Monday evenings, weekly prayer lists from Sunday services, prayer partners and a prayer chain for ad hoc requests.  To join your fellow prayer warriors or to request prayer, please contact the Church Office.

Helping Hands Food Bank

Helping Hands is preparing to distribute food baskets for Easter as they have for many years.  In recent years the number of folks signing up for the baskets has greately increased.  At the last distriubtion at Christmas, 97 baskets of food were given out.  "Helping Hands" is currently in need of canned goods, 15 oz cans of of green beans, corn , peaches or ?.  There is a box in fellowship hall where you can place donations,  or just bring them to the church.

We are also preparing to donate warm coats, pants, hats, gloves to some very cold childern at Wrightwood Elementary School, so bring in any of these items that fit childern (Kindergarten to 5th grade) and leave them at the church.

Shoe Box Ministry

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. The concept is very simple - fill a shoebox with items for a child living in a place where a gift might be something they have never experienced. Choose an age, boy or girl, and fill it with school supplies, hygiene items, toys, games, and anything else you think a child would enjoy. Our church has been participating in this ministry for many years and find it brings as much joy to the person filling the box as to the child who receives it. This year’s collection dates are November 16-23. So get a shoebox, buy a plastic shoebox with a secure lid, or an Operation Christmas Child red and green box and start filling. We have the red and green boxes at the church along with material that gives explicit instructions on what can and can’t go in the box, along with age appropriate gift ideas and shipping instructions. Every shoebox gift you pack helps Samaritan’s Purse to reach children worldwide with the good news of God’s love and the true meaning of Christmas.
